Marmara University Participates in NAFSA 2026

The Office for International Relations and Academic Cooperation at Marmara University officially participated in the NAFSA: Association of International Educators Annual Conference & Expo (NAFSA 2026), held from May 26–29, 2026. Marmara University was represented at the event by Vice Rector Prof. Ümit Süleyman Şehirli, Coordinator of the International Relations and Academic Cooperation Office Assoc. Prof. Özkan Zülfüoğlu, and Deputy Coordinator Gülden Bulut, PhD.

As one of the world’s largest international education gatherings, NAFSA brings together higher education institutions, student exchange programs, and academic cooperation networks from across the globe each year. At this year’s conference, Türkiye attracted considerable attention through the “Study in Türkiye Pavilion,” organized under the coordination of the Turkish National Agency. Recognized as one of the most prominent and visually striking exhibits at the expo, the pavilion was widely regarded as a tangible reflection of Türkiye’s international higher education vision.

Represented within the Study in Türkiye Pavilion, Marmara University held a series of bilateral meetings with academics, internationalization experts, and higher education leaders from different regions of the world. Discussions focused on expanding the university’s international partnership network, enhancing student and academic mobility opportunities, and exploring new avenues for institutional collaboration. These engagements provided a valuable platform for strengthening existing ties and establishing new partnerships in support of Marmara University’s global engagement strategy.
